Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION ).

HINT:

Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester and start from step 2 when not using the hand-held tester.

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR)
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
MALFUNCTION IN MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR

Item Measurement Item / Range (Display) Normal Condition
MAS CYL PRS 1 Master cylinder pressure sensor 1 reading / min.: 0 V, max.: 5 V When brake pedal is released: 0.3 to 0.9 V
    4. Check that the brake fluid pressure value of the master cylinder pressure sensor indicated on the hand-held tester changes when the brake pedal is depressed.

    OK:

When depressing the brake pedal, the reading on the value increases.

    NG: Go to step 2

OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See step 3 in  REPLACEMENT  )

  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP TERMINAL)
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP TERMINAL)  .

    Standard:

SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP TERMINAL)

Tester Connection Switch condition Specified Condition
    S1-27 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 8 to 14 V
S1-27 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal released Below 1 V
