Inspection Procedure

  1. SYSTEM CHECK 
    SYSTEM CHECK TABLE

    Light illumination level does not change. A
    Tail cancel switch does not operate. B

    B: Go to step   5 

  2. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Remove the combination meter with the connectors still connected.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    COMBINATION METER ASSY - VOLTAGE TABLE

    Terminal No Condition Specified condition
    C8-7 - Body ground Headlight Dimmer switch OFF --> TAIL Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BETWEEN LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT SWITCH AND COMBINATION METER ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the C8 and R5 connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance between terminals C8-7 and R5-4.

      OK: 

      Below 1 Ω 

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    1. Remove the light control rheostat with the connectors still connected.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT - VOLTAGE TABLE

      Terminal No Condition Specified condition
      R5-4 - Body ground Headlight Dimmer switch OFF --> TAIL Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V
    3. Disconnect the R5 connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

    LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT - RESISTANCE TABLE

    Terminal No Condition Specified condition
    R5-3 - R5-4 Down side position --> Up side position 0 Ω --> 8 to 12 kΩ

    NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Remove the combination meter with the connectors still connected.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

    COMBINATION METER ASSY - VOLTAGE TABLE

    Terminal No Condition Specified condition
    C8-7 - Body ground Headlight Dimmer switch OFF --> TAIL Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BETWEEN LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT SWITCH AND COMBINATION METER ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the C8 and R5 connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance between terminals C8-7 and R5-4.

      OK: 

      Below 1 Ω 

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  7. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    1. Disconnect the R5 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

    LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT - RESISTANCE TABLE

    Terminal No Condition Specified condition
    R5-1 - R5-4 Tail cancel position (rheostat knob is fully turned up) --> Non-tail cancel position 10 kΩ or higher --> Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
