Inspection Procedure

HINT:

  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STEERING SENSOR CONNECTOR)
    1. Remove the steering wheel and the column lower cover.
    2. Disconnect the steering sensor connector.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard:

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION (1 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-1 (IG1) - S12-2 (ESS) IG switch ON 10 to 14 V
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard:

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION (2 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-3 (BAT) - S12-2 (ESS) IG switch ON 10 to 14 V

DTC C1232/32 MALFUNCTION IN DECELERATION SENSOR, DTC C1234/34 MALFUNCTION IN YAW RATE SENSOR

DTC C1243/43 MALFUNCTION IN DECELERATION SENSOR CIRCUIT, DTC C1244/44 OPEN OR SHORT IN DECELERATION SENSOR CIRCUIT

DTC C1245/45 MALFUNCTION IN DECELERATION SENSOR, DTC C1381/97 MALFUNCTION IN POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE YAW/DECELERATION SENSOR

NOTE: When replacing the ABS & TRACTION actuator assy and yaw rate (deceleration) sensor, perform zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION ).

HINT:

When U0073/94, U0123/62, U0124/95 or U0126/63 is output together with C1232/32 or C1334/34, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0073/94, U0123/62, U0124/95 or U0126/63 first.

  1. CHECK SENSOR INSTALLATION (YAW RATE SENSOR)
    1. Check that the yaw rate (deceleration) sensor has been installed properly (see YAWRATE SENSOR ).

    OK:

    • The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
    • The sensor should not be tilted.

NG: INSTALL YAW RATE SENSOR CORRECTLY (SEE  YAWRATE SENSOR  )

    OK: Go to next step.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG TERMINAL)
    1. Disconnect the yaw rate (deceleration) sensor connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

    Standard:

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION (1 OF 2)

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    Y1-5 (IG) - Body ground IG switch ON 10 to 14 V

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IG CIRCUIT)

    OK: Go to next step.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GND TERMINAL)
    1. Disconnect the yaw rate (deceleration) sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

    Standard:

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION (2 OF 2)

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    Y1-1 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT)

    OK: Go to next step.

  4. CHECK DTC (C1210/36, C1336/39)
  1. Check DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

Result:

RESULT

C1210/36, C1226/39 are output A
C1210/36, C1226/39 are not output B

B: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
