Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE 
    1. Insert a screwdriver between the front door scuff plate and body to pry the scuff plate out.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. Remove the other using the same procedures described above.

  2. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISHES 
    1. Insert a screwdriver between the front pillar garnish and body to pry the garnish out.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. Remove the other using the same procedures described above.

  3. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD 
    1. Remove the clip.
    2. Insert a screwdriver between the cowl side trim board and body to pry the trim board out.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    3. Remove the other using the same procedures described above.
  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD (See  REMOVAL  )

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE COLUMN UPPER AND LOWER COVER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH 
  9. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH AND HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH 
  10. REMOVE PANEL 

    Remove the clip and panel.

  11. REMOVE NO.1 SPEAKER PANEL AND NO. 2 SPEAKER PANEL 
    1. Remove the No. 2 speaker panel as shown in the illustration.
    2. Remove the other using the same procedures described above.

  12. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR 
    1. Open the glove compartment door.
    2. Push both sides in and pull off the glove compartment door.

  13. REMOVE UPPER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the upper cluster finish panel as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. Disconnect the connector.

  14. REMOVE METER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the meter.

  15. REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 knobs.
    2. Remove the 2 screws.
    3. Using a screwdriver, remove the cluster finish panel.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    4. Disconnect the connectors.
    5. w/ Multi-display:

      Remove the 2 screws and multi-display.

    6. w/o Multi-display:

      Remove the 2 screws stereo opening cover.

  16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL 
    1. Remove the bolt holding the front passenger airbag assembly to the body.

      Torque: 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

        (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)

    2. Remove the connector cover from the lower instrument panel.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    3. Disconnect the passenger airbag connector.
    4. Remove the screws and instrument panel as shown in the installation below.

  17. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE 
  18. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE BOX 
  19. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  )

  20. REMOVE RADIO ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws.
    2. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the radio assembly.
  21. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL 
    1. Remove the hood lock release lever.
    2. Remove the screws, bolts and nuts.
    3. Disconnect the connectors.
    4. Remove the lower instrument panel.

  22. REMOVE LOWER PAD INSERT 

    Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and lower pad insert.

  23. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  24. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX 
    1. Remove the shifting hole cover.
    2. Disconnect the connector of the base switch.
    3. Remove the console carpet.
    4. Remove the screw and rear console box.
  25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FLOOR BRACE 

    Remove the bolt and nut, then remove the instrument panel to floor brace.

  26. REMOVE REINFORCEMENT 
    1. Remove the 6 bolts.
    2. Disengage the wire harness clamps.
    3. Remove the reinforcement.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body and wire harness.

    4. Remove the screw and door lock control.
    5. Remove the screw and wireless door lock control.
