Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (ABS WARNING LIGHT) 

    WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
    2. Select the item "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light on the hand-held tester.
    3. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light are shown on the combination meter with the hand-held tester.
      ACTIVE TEST

      Item Vehicle Condition / Test Details Diagnostic Note
      ABS WARN LIGHT Turns ABS warning light ON / OFF Observe combination meter

      Standard: 

      The ABS warning light is turned ON or OFF in accordance with the hand-held tester. 

    WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER 

    1. Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Using service wire, connect terminals WA and GND of the skid control ECU harness side connector.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Check that the ABS warning light goes off.

      Standard: 

      The light is turned ON or OFF in accordance with the connecting condition of terminals GND and WA.

    1. OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    NG: Go to Next Step. 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WA CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter connector C7 and the skid control ECU connector S1.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-22 (WA) - C7 - 10 Below 1 Ω
      S1-22 (WA) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
