Side Air Bag Sensor ASSY LH: Replacement

HINT:

• Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
• The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

   Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
6. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
7. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
9. REMOVE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY LH 
   1. Disconnect the connector from the side airbag sensor assy LH.
   2. Remove the nut and the side airbag sensor assy LH.

10. INSTALL SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY LH 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
       CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
    3. Install the side airbag sensor assy LH with the nut.

       Torque: 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) 

       NOTE:

       • If the side airbag sensor assy LH has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
       • When installing the side airbag sensor assy LH, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
    4. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the side airbag sensor assy LH.
    5. Connect the connector to the side airbag sensor assy LH.
11. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
12. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
13. INSTALL REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
14. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
15. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
16. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
17. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
18. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE  INITIALIZATION  ) 

    Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

19. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
