Inspection Procedure
- CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION (STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT)
- Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.
OK:
STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION (STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT)Pedal Condition Illumination Condition Brake pedal depressed ON Brake pedal released OFF
- NG: Go to step 4
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (STP TERMINAL)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (STP TERMINAL)
.
Standard:
SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (STP TERMINAL)Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition A40-20 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 8 to 14 V A40-20 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal released Below 4.0 V
- NG: Go to step 6
- OK: Go to next step.
- RECONFIRM DTC (SEE DTC CHECK/CLEAR
)
- Clear the DTC.
- Start the engine.
- Depress the brake pedal several times to test the stop light circuit.
- Check that the same DTC is recorded.
Result:
RECONFIRM DTCDTC is not output A DTC is output B
- B: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- A: END
HINT:
It is suspected that the DTCs were output due to a bad connection of the connector terminal.
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSY (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSY (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
.
Standard:
STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSY (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL VOLTAGE)Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A23-2 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSY
- Disconnect the stop light switch assy connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSY
.
Standard:
STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSYSwitch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition Switch pin free 1 - 2 Below 1 Ω Switch pin pushed in 1 - 2 10 kΩ or higher
- NG: REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSY
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH TO SKID CONTROL ECU) (SEE ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE
)
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector and skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in STOP LIGHT SWITCH TO SKID CONTROL ECU
.
Standard:
STOP LIGHT SWITCH TO SKID CONTROL ECUTester Connection Specified Condition A40-20 (STP) - A23-1 (STP) Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH TO SKID CONTROL ECU)
- OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CIRCUIT)
