Inspection Procedure

1. Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.

OK: 

1. NG: CHECK STOP LIGHT CIRCUIT (SEE  DTC C1249/49 OPEN CIRCUIT IN STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT   ) 
2. OK: Go to next step. 

1. Connect the hand held tester to the DLC3.
2. Start the engine.
3. Select "DATA LIST" on the hand held tester.

4. Check that the brake fluid pressure value of the master cylinder pressure sensor observed on the hand held tester changes when the brake pedal is depressed.

   OK: 

   When the pedal is depressed, voltage displayed on the hand held tester increases. 

1. NG: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
2. OK: Go to next step. 

1. Connect the hand held tester to the DLC3.
2. Start the engine.
3. Select "DATA LIST" on the hand held tester.

4. Check that the stop light observed on the hand held tester changes when the brake pedal is depressed.

   OK: 

   When the brake pedal is depressed, the hand held tester displays "ON". 

1. NG: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
2. OK: Go to next step. 

1. Clear the DTC.
2. Start the engine.
3. At a speed of 18 mph (30 km/h) or more, drive the vehicle and perform braking test (decelerate the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal).
4. Check that the same DTC is recorded.

Result: 

1. B: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
2. A: END 

HINT:

It is suspected that the DTCs were output due to a bad connection of the connector terminal.
