Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION .

Measure the voltage between master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU EXI4 terminal) and body ground.

PREPARATION:

Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S29.

CHECK:

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

HINT:

Move the vehicle either a little forward or a little backward to engage L4 position.

OK:

SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR S29 EXI4 TERMINAL VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

Tester Connection	Transfer Condition	Specified Condition
S29-21 (EXI4) - Body ground	L4	Below 1.5 V
S29-21 (EXI4) - Body ground	Other (except L4)	8 to 14 V

NG : Go to step 4 .
OK : Go to next step.

Perform SIGNAL CHECK (TEST MODE) (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE ).

CHECK:

Check if DTC C1283/83 is detected in test mode.

RESULT:

DTC OUTPUT RESULT

DTC (C1283/83) is not output	A
DTC is (C1283/83) output	B

B : Check and repair detection (L4) switch circuit.
A : Go to next step.

Reconfirm DTC (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
PREPARATION:

Clear the DTC.

CHECK:

Check if the same DTC is detected.

RESULT:
DTC OUTPUT RESULT

DTC is output A

DTC is not output B
1. B : END.
2. A : Replace master cylinder solenoid (See DISASSEMBLY ).

Inspect detection (L4) switch (See INSPECTION ).

PREPARATION:

Remove the detection (L4) switch (see INSPECTION ).

CHECK:

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

OK:

L4 SWITCH CONTINUITY CONDITIONS

Switch Position	Specified Condition
Push	Below 1 Ω (Continuity)
Free	10 kΩ or higher (No continuity)

NG : Replace detection (L4) switch.
OK : Go to next step.

Check for open or short circuit in harness and connector between detection (L4) switch and master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU).
1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector.
2. OK : Go to next step.
Check for open or short circuit in harness and connector between detection (L4) switch and ECM.
1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector.
2. OK : END.
