Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Tundra and 2005 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION  .

HINT:

Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester and start from step  3 when not using the hand-held tester.

  1. Check operation of the motor relay (H/B motor relay).

    PREPARATION:

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Select ACTIVE TEST mode on the hand-held tester.

Item Vehicle Condition/Test Details Diagnostic Note
H/B MOT RELAY Turns H/B motor relay ON/OFF Operation sound of motor can be heard

    CHECK:

Check operation sound of the H/B motor individually when operating it with the hand-held tester.

    OK:

The operation sound of the H/B motor can be heard.

    1. NG : Go to step   3 .
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  2. Reconfirm DTC (See  DTC CHECK / CLEAR   ).

    PREPARATION:

    1. Clear the DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    3. Depress the brake pedal more than 20 times.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    5. Wait until the pump motor stops.
    6. Depress the brake pedal several times until the pump motor turns on.
    7. Wait until the pump stops.
    8. Repeat (f) and (g) 3 times.

    CHECK:

Check if the same DTCs are detected.

    RESULT:

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    DTC is output A
    DTC is not output B
    1. B : END.
    2. A : Replace master cylinder solenoid (See  DISASSEMBLY  ).
  3. Check ABS2 fuse (Access Cab., Standard Cab.)/ABS No. 1 fuse (Double Cab.).

    PREPARATION:

    Remove the ABS2 fuse/ABS No. 1 fuse.

    CHECK:

Measure the resistance of the ABS2 fuse/ABS No. 1 fuse.

    OK:

    Resistance: Below 1 Ω (Continuity)

    1. NG : Check for short circuit in all the harnesses and components connected to ABS2 fuse/ABS No. 1 fuse and replace fuse.
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  4. Measure the voltage of the master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU +BM1, +BM2 terminal).

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect connectors S29 and S30 of the skid control ECU.

    CHECK:

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK:

    1. NG : Check and replace harness and connector (+BM1 and +BM2 circuit).
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  5. Check harness and connector (GND terminal).

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect connectors S29 and S30 of the skid control ECU.

    CHECK:

Measure the resistance between terminal GND (GND1, GND2, and GND3) and body ground.

    OK:
