Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Tundra and 2005 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION  .
  1. Check DTC (See  DTC CHECK / CLEAR   ).

    CHECK:

    Check DTCs.

    RESULT:

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    DTC is not output A
    DTC is output B
    1. B : Repair circuit according to the output code (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART   ).
    2. A : Go to next step.
  2. Inspect master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU) connector.

    CHECK:

Check skid control ECU connector's connecting condition (S29 and S30 connectors).

    OK:

The connector should be securely connected.

    1. NG : Connect the connector to ECU correctly.
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  3. Check battery voltage.

    CHECK:

    Check the battery voltage.

    OK:

    11 to 14 V

    1. NG : Check and repair  CHARGING SYSTEM  : 1GR-FE or  CHARGING SYSTEM  : 2UZ-FE.
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  4. Measure the voltage of the master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU IG1 terminal).

    PREPARATION:

    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S29.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    CHECK:

Measure the voltage between terminal IG1 and body ground.

    OK:

    Voltage: 10 to 14 V

    1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector (IG1 circuit).
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  5. Check harness and connector (GND terminal).

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect connectors S29 and S30 of the skid control ECU.

    CHECK:

Measure the resistance between terminal GND (GND1, GND2, and GND3) and body ground.

    OK:

    Below 1 Ω (Continuity)

    1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector (GND circuit).
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  6. Check for open or short circuit in harness and connector between master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU) and combination meter.
    1. NG : Repair or replace harness or connector.
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  7. Inspect combination meter (See  CIRCUIT  ).

    CHECK:

    Check combination meter.

    OK:

    Combination meter is normal.

    1. NG : Check and repair combination meter.
    2. OK : Replace master cylinder solenoid (See  DISASSEMBLY  ).
