Inspection Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
- When a vehicle is brought into the workshop, leave it as is. Do not change the vehicle condition.
- For example, do not tighten the fuel cap. Do not disassemble the pump module.
- CONFIRM DTC AND EVAP PRESSURE
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without the engine start.
- Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DTC INFO/CURRENT CODES.
- Confirm DTC.
- Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DATA LIST/ALL/VAPOR PRESS.
- Read the EVAP pressure (VAPOR PRESS).
- B: Go to step 4 .
- C: Go to EVAP INSPECTION PROCEDURE (See EVAP INSPECTION PROCEDURE )
- A: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PUMP MODULE - ECM)
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminal E5-21 and the body ground.
- B: Go to step 7 .
- A: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PUMP MODULE - ECM)
- Remove the exhaust tail pipe.
- Remove the heat insulator under the canister.
- Disconnect the canister connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminal E5-21 and the body ground.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PUMP MODULE - ECM)
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Remove the exhaust tail pipe.
- Remove the heat insulator under the canister.
- Disconnect the canister connector.
- Measure the voltage and resistance of the C17 connector.
Standard:
TERMINALS VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONSTerminal No. Specified Condition C17-4 - Body ground 4.5 to 5.5 V C17-3 - Body ground 4.5 to 5.5 V C17-2 - Body ground 100 Ω or less

- A: Go to step 5
- B: Go to step 6 .
- REPLACE PUMP MODULE
- Remove the exhaust tail pipe.
- Remove the heat insulator under the canister.
- Disconnect the hoses and the connector.
- Remove the 3 bolts and the pump module with the O-ring.
- Install a new pump module with a new O-ring.
- Install the 3 bolts.
- Connect the hoses and the connector.
- Go to the next step before installing the exhaust tail pipe.
- NEXT: Go to step 8 .
- REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
In case that the exhaust tail pipe is removed, go to the next step before installing it.
- NEXT: Go to step 8 .
- REPLACE ECM (See REPLACEMENT
)
- NEXT: Go to step 8
- CONFIRM PTC (AFTER REPAIR)
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Clear the DTC with the hand-held tester.
- Wait for 60 seconds with the ignition switch ON.
- Confirm the current DTC. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBDII/DTC INFO/CURRENT DTC.
- If no DTC is displayed, the repair has been completed properly.
