Inspection Flow
- CONFIRM SYMPTOM BY PERFORMING OPERATIONAL CHECK - TEMPERATURE DECREASE
- Press the AUTO switch.
- Turn temperature control dial (driver) counterclockwise until 18°C (60°F) is displayed.
- Check for cold air at discharge air outlets.
Can the symptom be duplicated?
YES: GO TO 3.
NO: GO TO 2.
- CHECK FOR ANY SYMPTOMS
Perform a complete operational check for any symptoms. Refer to "OPERATIONAL CHECK (FRONT) ".
Does another symptom exist?
YES: Refer to "SYMPTOM MATRIX CHART ".
NO: System OK.
- CHECK FOR SERVICE BULLETINS
Check for any service bulletins.
: GO TO 4.
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS
Perform self-diagnosis Refer to "A/C AUTO AMP. SELF-DIAGNOSIS ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 5.
NO: Refer to "A/C SYSTEM SELF-DIAGNOSIS CODE CHART ".
- CHECK DRIVE BELTS
Check compressor belt tension. Refer to "CHECKING DRIVE BELTS ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 6.
NO: Adjust or replace compressor belt. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
- CHECK AIR MIX DOOR OPERATION
Check and verify air mix door mechanism for smooth operation. Refer to "AIR MIX DOOR MOTOR (DRIVER) COMPONENT FUNCTION CHECK " or "AIR MIX DOOR MOTOR (PASSENGER) COMPONENT FUNCTION CHECK ".
Does air mix door operate correctly?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: Check air mix door motor circuit. Refer to "AIR MIX DOOR MOTOR (DRIVER) DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE " or "AIR MIX DOOR MOTOR (PASSENGER) DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE ".
- CHECK COOLING FAN MOTOR OPERATION
Check and verify cooling fan motor for smooth operation. Refer to COMPONENT INSPECTION .
Does cooling fan motor operate correctly?
YES: GO TO 8.
NO: Check cooling fan motor. Refer to DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE .
- CHECK WATER VALVE OPERATION
Check and verify water valve for smooth operation. Refer to "DESCRIPTION ".
Does water valve operate correctly?
YES: GO TO 9.
NO: Check water valve circuit. Refer to "WATER VALVE DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE ".
- CHECK RECOVERY/RECYCLING EQUIPMENT BEFORE USAGE
Check recovery/recycling equipment before connecting to vehicle. Verify there is no pressure in the recovery/recycling equipment by checking the gauges. If pressure exists, recover refrigerant from equipment lines.
: GO TO 10.
- CHECK REFRIGERANT PURITY
- Connect recovery/recycling equipment to vehicle.
- Confirm refrigerant purity in supply tank using recovery/recycling and refrigerant identifier.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 11.
NO: Check contaminated refrigerant. Refer to "PRECAUTION FOR WORKING WITH HFC-134A (R-134A) ".
- CHECK FOR EVAPORATOR FREEZE UP
Start engine and run A/C. Check for evaporator freeze up.
Does evaporator freeze up?
YES: Perform performance test diagnoses. Refer to "DIAGNOSTIC WORK FLOW ".
NO: GO TO 12.
- CHECK REFRIGERANT PRESSURE
Check refrigerant pressure with manifold gauge connected. Refer to "PERFORMANCE CHART ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: Perform performance test diagnoses. Refer to "DIAGNOSTIC WORK FLOW ".
NO: GO TO 13.
- CHECK AIR DUCTS
Check ducts for air leaks.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: System OK.
NO: Repair air leaks.
