Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Start the inspection from step  1 when using the hand-held tester and start from step  2 when not using the hand-held tester.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER (TRAC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select the item "TRAC OFF LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the TRAC OFF indicator light on the hand-held tester.

      VSC / TRAC OFF IND Turns VSC/TRAC OFF indicator ON / OFF Observe combination meter
    4. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the TRAC OFF indicator light are indicated on the combination meter when using the hand-held tester.

      OK: Turn the TRAC OFF indicator light on or off in accordance with the hand-held tester. 

    1. NG: Go to step   6 . 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH 
    1. Remove the TRAC control switch.
    2. Disconnect the TRAC control switch connector T6.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      T6-4 - T6-1 Pushed in (ON) Below 1 Ω
      T6-4 - T6-1 Released (OFF) 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPLACE TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - TRAC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S27 and the TRAC control switch connector T6.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S27-43 (CSW) - T6-4 (+) Below 1 Ω
      S27-43 (CSW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      T6-1 (E) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  4. INSPECT MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. NG: REPAIR MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S27 and ECM connector E5.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S27-8 (TRC+) - E5-25 (TRC+) Below 1 Ω
      S27-22 (TRC-) - E5-31 (TRC-) Below 1 Ω
      S27-9 (ENG+) - E5-24 (ENG+) Below 1 Ω
      S27-23 (ENG-) - E5-30 (ENG-) Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S27-8 (TRC+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S27-22 (TRC-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S27-9 (ENG+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S27-23 (ENG-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  6. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    2. OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  )
