How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

Troubleshoot in accordance with the procedure on the following pages.

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
    1. Go to next step.
  2. SYMPTOM CHECK 
    1. Go to next step.
  3. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LARGE-SCALE MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN) 
    1. Check that there is no abnormality in the communication system by inspecting the communication function of the multiplex communication system with the hand-held tester.
      1. (ECU communication stop, communication line abnormal) With code output, proceed to A.
      2. (ECU communication stop, communication line abnormal) Without code output, proceed to B.
    1. B: GO TO SECTION OF EACH SYSTEM 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  4. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHECK (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ) 
    1. Check a DTC and note it if a code is output.
    2. Delete the DTC.
    3. Check if the DTC will be output once again, when the problem symptom is simulated based on the noted code.
      1. When no code is output (symptom check and simulation is possible), proceed to A.
      2. When no code is output (symptom check and simulation is impossible), proceed to B.
      3. When the code is output, proceed to C.
    1. B: GO TO PROBLEM SIMULATION (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    2. C: Go to step   7 
    3. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ) 
    1. Without applicable symptoms, proceed to A.
    2. With applicable symptoms, proceed to B.
    1. B: Go to step   7 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  6. PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING IN THE FOLLOWING METHOD, DEPENDING ON MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM 
    1. Pre-check (See PRE-CHECK )
    2. Terminals of ECU (See TERMINALS OF ECU )
  7. ADJUSTMENT, REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT 
    1. Go to next step.
