Rear Parking Brake Shoes

  1. Adjust parking brake shoe clearance:
    1. Remove adjustment hole plug from rear rotor. See Fig 1.
    2. Turn adjuster until parking brake shoes lock rotor.
    3. Back off adjuster 8 notches.
    4. Repeat above procedure on other side of the vehicle.
  2. Settling parking brake shoes and disc:
    1. Depress the parking brake pedal with force of 33 Ib. (15 kg).
    2. Drive the vehicle at about 31 mph (50 km/h) on a safe, level and dry road.
    3. Drive the vehicle for about 0.25 mile (400 meters) in above condition.
    4. Repeat procedure 2 or 3 times.
  3. Recheck and adjust parking brake pedal travel . See PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS.
