Parking Brake
- Check parking brake travel:
- Slowly depress the parking brake pedal all the way, and count the number of clicks.
- Parking brake travel at force of 66 lb. (30 kg) is 3-6 clicks.
- If incorrect, adjust the parking brake.
- Adjust parking brake travel:
- If equipped with a floor shift, remove the console box. If equipped with a column shift, remove the hole cover.
- Release the parking brake pedal.
- Use a wrench to hold the screw end of No. 4 cable and ensure it does not rotate. See Fig 1.
- Loosen the adjusting hexagon lock nut.
- hold the parking brake cable and turn the adjusting hexagon until the pedal travel is correct.
- Hold the adjusting hexagon with a wrench, tighten the adjusting hexagon lock nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- If equipped with a floor shift, install the console box. If equipped with a column shift, install the hole cover.
NOTE: To confirm the parking brake cable is not twisting, always keep the red-painted surface up.

Adjust rear brake shoe clearance before adjusting parking brake. See REAR BRAKE SHOES .
