Trouble Shooting: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon and 2001 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For circuit reference, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  and/or CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  .
NOTE: Any diagnosis should begin with confirming the customer's complaint. If possible, road test vehicle first, and note transmission performance for future reference during diagnosis. When trouble shooting transaxle, perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  first, then check for stored DTCs and repair as necessary. If no DTCs exist, perform manual shift test to determine if problem area is an electrical circuit or a mechanical transaxle problem. See MANUAL SHIFT TEST  under PERFORMANCE TESTS.
