Test No. 1: Power Door Locks Do Not Operate From Driver Door Master Switch Or Driver Door Key Lock Cylinder

NOTE: Manufacturer does not provide any testing for the front passenger switch or key lock cylinder. Use wiring diagram and contents of this procedure to test front passenger switch and key lock cylinder. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  1. If power door locks do not operate from driver door master switch, go to next step. If power door locks do not operate from driver door key lock cylinder, go to step  5.
  2. If power door locks do not operate from driver door master switch, turn ignition off and remove driver door master switch from arm rest. See POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCHES (DRIVER & FRONT PASSENGER)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect 18-pin driver door master switch electrical harness connector. Using a DVOM, check continuity between specified terminals of driver door master switch. See Fig 1. See DRIVER DOOR MASTER SWITCH CONTINUITY  table. If continuity is not as specified, replace driver door master switch. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.

    DRIVER DOOR MASTER SWITCH CONTINUITY

    Switch Position DVOM Test Points Specification
    Lock 3 & 5 Continuity
    Off 3 & 5; 3 & 8 No Continuity
    Unlock 3 & 8 Continuity
  3. With ignition off and driver door master switch disconnected, disconnect 20-pin connector 2K from front of driver side junction block. See Figure. Using a DVOM, check continuity of Light Green wire between 18-pin driver door master switch electrical harness connector terminal No. 5 and 20-pin driver side junction block electrical harness connector terminal No. 10. See Figure and Fig 1 . Also check continuity of Green/Red wire between 18-pin driver door master switch electrical harness connector terminal No. 8 and 20-pin driver side junction block electrical harness connector terminal No. 1. Continuity should be present in both circuits. If continuity is not as specified, locate and repair defective circuit or electrical connector. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
  4. If wiring and connectors are okay, check power door lock motors. See POWER DOOR LOCK MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. If power door lock motors are okay, go to step  7.
  5. If power door locks do not operate from driver door key lock cylinder, check power door lock motors. See COMPONENT TESTS . If power door lock motors are okay, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Access driver door power door lock motor. See POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (FRONT DOORS)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect 10-pin driver door power door lock motor electrical harness connector. Also disconnect 13-pin driver side junction block electrical harness connector 2H from front of driver side junction block and 12-pin body control ECU electrical harness connector B8. Using a DVOM, check continuity of lock circuit by testing Blue/Red wire between 13-pin driver side junction block electrical harness connector 2H terminal No. 11 and 10-pin driver door power door lock motor electrical harness connector terminal No. 4. See Figure and Fig 2 . Also check continuity of unlock circuit by testing Blue/Black wire between 12-pin body control ECU electrical harness connector B8 terminal No. 11 and 10-pin driver door power door lock motor electrical harness connector terminal No. 1. See Figure and Fig 2 . If continuity does not exist, repair wiring harnesses or connectors as necessary. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
  7. If power door lock motors, wiring and connectors are okay, check body control ECU ground circuits. See BODY COMPUTER in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If ground circuits are faulty, repair and retest system. If ground circuits are okay, substitute original body control ECU with a known-good unit and recheck system operation.
  8. If system operates properly, original body control ECU was defective. If system still does not operate properly, perform body control ECU pin voltage check. See BODY CONTROL ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. Check wiring harness and electrical connectors for an intermittent problem. Repair wiring harnesses or connectors as necessary. If voltage values, harnesses and connectors are okay, replace body control ECU. After repairs have been made, perform confirmation test. See CONFIRMATION TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
