Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Turn ignition on. Access ECT ECU. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminals NSW, "R", "2" and "L" of ECT ECU harness connector between terminal and body ground with gear selector in each shift position. See Figure-Figure .
  2. Ensure 9-14 volts is present at NSW terminal at ECT ECU harness connector in all shift positions. Ensure 9-14 volts is present at "R", "2" and "L" terminals at ECT ECU harness connector with gear selector in "R", "2" and "L" position. If voltage is not as specified, check park/neutral position switch. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, check and repair circuit(s) between PNP switch and ECT ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
