DTC B224A: Backup Camera
DTC detecting condition :
Detected when the image signal from the camera system was not confirmed.
Trouble symptom :
Camera image does not appear. (Blue screen, etc.)
Failure detection pattern :
- "Primary" (high-priority diagnosis)
Wiring diagram :
Audio and navigation system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>AUDIO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
Rearview camera system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>REARVIEW CAMERA SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
Back-up light system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>BACK-UP LIGHT SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
- CHECK DATA MONITOR
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Cockpit Control]. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
Rear camera connection state
Is [ON] displayed?
Yes : GO TO 2.
No : GO TO 3.
- CHECK DATA MONITOR
.
Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Cockpit Control]. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- Reverse connection state
Is [ON] displayed when the shift lever is set to the reverse range?
Yes : GO TO 3.
No : GO TO 6.
- CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the cockpit control module connector (i101).
- Disconnect the rearview camera (Db37).
- Using the tester, measure the resistance of harness between cockpit control module connector (i101) and rearview camera connector (Db37).
Connector & terminal
(i101) No. 28 - (Db37) No. 1:
(i101) No. 29 - (Db37) No. 2:
(i101) No. 27 - (Db37) No. 3:
(i101) No. 26 - (Db37) No. 4:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes : GO TO 4.
No : Repair the open circuit in the harness between the cockpit control module connector and the rearview camera connector.
- CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)

Using the tester, measure the resistance value of harness between cockpit control module connector (i101) and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(i101) No. 28 - Chassis ground:
(i101) No. 29 - Chassis ground:
(i101) No. 27 - Chassis ground:
(i101) No. 26 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?
Yes : GO TO 5.
No : Repair the short circuit to ground in the harness between the cockpit control module connector and the rearview camera connector.
- CHECK HARNESS (SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY)
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the tester, measure the voltage between cockpit control module connector (i101) and chassis ground. (With each connector disconnected)
Connector & terminal
(i101) No. 28 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
(i101) No. 29 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
(i101) No. 27 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
(i101) No. 26 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage less than 1 V?
Yes : GO TO 6.
No : Repair the short circuit to power supply in harness between the cockpit control module connector and the rearview camera connector.
- CHECK LAN SYSTEM
.
Read the DTC of [Cockpit Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC U**** displayed? (Current code)
Yes : Perform the inspection according to the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
No : GO TO 7.
- CHECK REARVIEW CAMERA
.
Check the rearview camera according to the instructions of rearview camera operation service information.
Is there any fault?
Yes : Replace the rearview camera. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>CAMERA .
No : Replace the cockpit control module. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY .
