Instrument Panel Assembly: Removal
CAUTION:
- Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
.NOTE:
- Release the shift lock and shift the select lever to the "N" position. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER>REMOVAL .
- For the power seat model, remove the console box before removing the ground terminal from the battery sensor.
- Remove the cover LWR driver. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the driver monitoring unit assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>DRIVER MONITORING UNIT>REMOVAL
.NOTE: For the model without driver monitoring system, remove the cover center UPR in the same procedure as for the driver monitoring unit assembly.
- Remove the grip and boot. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover assembly front and the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover center side and the tray center LWR. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CONSOLE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the ornament panel mid passenger and the center information display assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY>REMOVAL .
- Remove the duct console center and the duct console front. (Models with rear seat air conditioning) Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT DUCT>REMOVAL>CONSOLE DUCT .
- Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>CENTER GRILLE .
- Remove the ornament panel mid driver assembly and switch assembly meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>SWITCHES AND HARNESS>REMOVAL>TRIP RESET SWITCH .
- Remove the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the knee airbag module assembly. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the steering wheel. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING WHEEL>REMOVAL .
- Remove the reinforcement meter.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the screw release the claw and remove the reinforcement meter.
NOTE: Remove the GPS antenna assembly and the telematics sub antenna as an assembly. - Remove the keyless access Control Module. (Model with keyless access with push button start) Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover side sill front Ft and the cover side sill front Rr on the left and right sides. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL .
- Remove the weather strip body side flange front.
- Remove the pocket COMPL and the panel instrument passenger. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>REMOVAL .
- Remove the right and left trim panel assembly A pillars. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>UPPER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL>A PILLAR TRIM .
- Remove the grille speaker side and the speaker assembly tweeter on the left and right sides. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>FRONT SPEAKER>REMOVAL>TWEETER .
- Remove the grille speaker center and the speaker assembly center. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>FRONT SPEAKER>REMOVAL>CENTER .
- Remove the column assembly steering. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the in-vehicle sensor connector and the aspirator hose.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Detach the harness clamp and connector of the feeder cord instrument.
- Remove the harness clamp of the speaker assembly tweeter.
- Disconnect the connectors of the cord assembly instrument and central gateway Control Module.
- Remove the bolts and screws.
- Remove the harness clamp and slide the harness in the gray arrow direction.
- Remove the bolts of the passenger's airbag module.
- Disconnect the passenger's airbag module connector.
- Passenger's airbag module: Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE AND REAR SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER .
- Passenger's airbag module (variable vent hole): Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>SIDE IMPACT SENSOR (FRONT DOOR) COUPLING HARNESS CONNECTOR (BETWEEN AIRBAG REAR HARNESS AND DOOR HARNESS) .
NOTE: If the connector is difficult to disconnect, disconnect while raising the instrument panel assembly. - Remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Detach the harness clamp and connector of the feeder cord instrument.
- Remove the duct rear heater front. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT DUCT>REMOVAL>REAR DUCT>FRONT .
- Remove the beam steering COMPL.NOTE: The beam steering COMPL is heavy. Work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior.
- Remove the body integrated unit (fuse & relay box).
- Disconnect all harness clamps and connectors of the instrument panel harness.
- Release all lock points for the ground bolt, heater & cooling unit assembly and the beam steering COMPL.
- Remove the cap bolt, and remove the bolts using TORX® T40.
- Remove the bolts at the floor center.
- Using the hexagon wrench, loosen the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space. (Only RH side of the beam steering COMPL)
- Slightly lift it up to detach the left and right pins, and then pull it toward you to remove together with the beam steering COMPL.NOTE:
- Check that all lock points for the harness clamps, harness connectors and the beam steering COMPL have been released.
- The instrument panel assembly and the beam steering COMPL are heavy. Work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior.
