  1. CHECK TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD LIGHT SYSTEM  .

Check the hazard light illumination using the following procedures.

    • Turn the hazard switch to ON.
    • Perform lock/unlock operation using keyless key/access key.

    Does the hazard light illuminate?

    Yes:  Go to  2.

No:  Check turn signal and hazard light system. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>TURN SIGNAL LIGHT AND HAZARD LIGHT SYSTEM .

  2. CHECK Power rear gate Control Module  .
    1. Unlock the vehicle.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Press and hold the power rear gate driver's switch to activate the power rear gate auto operation.

Does the hazard light illuminate during the power rear gate operation?

Yes:  The circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.

    No:  Go to  3.

  3. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the body integrated unit connector.
    3. Disconnect the Power rear gate Control Module connector in the order of (L85) → (L84).
    4. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the body integrated unit connector and Power rear gate Control Module connector.

      Connector & terminal

      (L84) No. 15 - (i82) No. 37:

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

No:  Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  4. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .

Using a tester, measure the resistance between Power rear gate Control Module connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal

    (L84) No. 15 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Yes:  Replace Power rear gate Control Module. Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE CONTROL MODULE .

No:  Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.
