Except For The Electronic Parking Brake Model
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>REMOVAL .
- Release the parking brake.
- Loosen the flange lock nut, and make the cable free.
- Remove the rear wheels. Ref. to WHEEL AND TIRE SYSTEM>TIRE AND WHEEL>REMOVAL .
- Adjust the brake shoe clearance.
- Remove the plug.
- Turn the adjuster assembly in the direction where it is extended (a) by inserting a flat tip screwdriver until the brake shoe is in close contact with the brake disc.
- Return the adjuster assembly by 10 notches in the direction (b) where it is shortened.CAUTION:
Make sure that the adjuster assembly is returned by 10 notches. If it is not returned sufficiently, dragging may occur.
- Check there is no parking brake drag.
- Install the plugs.
- Remove the plug.
- Operate the lever assembly hand brake 3 to 4 times and fully return the lever assembly hand brake.
- While slowly pulling up the lever assembly hand brake with a force of 200 N (20.4 kgf, 45 lbf), count the notches.
- Turn and adjust the flange lock nut so that the lever stroke is within the specified value.
Specification:
7 - 8 notches
- Check there is no parking brake drag.
- Check that the brake warning light illuminates when the lever assembly hand brake is operated.CAUTION:
Check that the light illuminates when the first notch is reached after pulling the lever.
- Install the rear wheels. Ref. to WHEEL AND TIRE SYSTEM>TIRE AND WHEEL>INSTALLATION .
- Install the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>INSTALLATION .
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
