Rear Gate Panel

CAUTION: The panel COMPL rear gate is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the rear gate trim. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>REAR GATE TRIM>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the power rear gate buzzer. (Model with power rear gate) Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE BUZZER>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the drip rear gate on the right and left sides.

  5. Remove the cover rear gate LH and RH.

  6. Remove the spoiler assembly roof CTR and spoiler assembly roof side. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF SPOILER>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the garnish assembly rear gate. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>REAR GATE GARNISH>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the light assembly finisher rear. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>REAR FINISHER LIGHT ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL>OUTBACK MODEL .
  9. Remove the license plate light. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>LICENSE PLATE LIGHT>REMOVAL>OUTBACK MODEL .
  10. Remove the rearview camera assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>CAMERA>REMOVAL>REAR>OUTBACK MODEL .
  11. Remove the arm assembly rear wiper and the motor assembly rear wiper. Ref. to WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEMS>REAR WIPER MOTOR>REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the latch and actuator assembly rear gate. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>REAR GATE LATCH AND ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  13. Remove the power rear gate auto closer. (Model with power rear gate) Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE AUTO CLOSER>REMOVAL .
  14. Remove the antenna amplifier assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>ANTENNA>REMOVAL>ANTENNA AMPLIFIER>OUTBACK MODEL .
  15. Remove the noise suppressor assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>NOISE SUPPRESSOR>REMOVAL>OUTBACK MODEL .
  16. Disconnect the joint portion of the hose assembly rear washer.

  17. Remove the nozzle rear washer and nozzle rear camera washer. Ref. to WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEMS>REAR WASHER>REMOVAL .
  18. Remove the rubber duct connection.

  19. Remove the cord rear gate, hose rear camera washer and feeder cord.
    1. Remove the bolt, harness clip and connector.
    2. Pull out the cord rear gate, hose rear camera washer and feeder cord from the locations (a) and (b) of the panel COMPL rear gate shown in the figure.

  20. Remove the buffer rear gate side on the right and left sides.

  21. Remove the stopper rubber rear gate LH and RH.

  22. Remove the glass rear gate. Ref. to GLASS/WINDOW/MIRRORS>REAR GATE GLASS>REMOVAL .
  23. Before removing the stay assembly rear gate, prevent the panel COMPL rear gate from closing by using a prop or the like.
    CAUTION: If the prop comes off, operators may get injured and vehicle may get damaged. Make sure to support the panel COMPL rear gate with secure material to prevent injury or damage.

  24. Remove the stay assembly rear gate on the right and left sides.
    1. Remove the mounting bolts in the panel COMPL rear gate side.
    2. Remove the mounting bolts on the body side.

  25. Remove the power rear gate drive unit. (Model with power rear gate) Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE DRIVE UNIT>REMOVAL .
  26. Remove the bolts of the hinge assembly rear gate LH and RH, and remove the panel COMPL rear gate.

  27. Remove the hinge assembly door rear gate from the vehicle.
