Front Seat: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • When any of the following operation has been done for the passenger's seat, be sure to perform [Rezeroing] of occupant detection system. Ref. to OCCUPANT DETECTION (DIAGNOSTICS)>REZERO .
    • Replacing occupant detection system
    • Removing and disassembling passenger's seat
    • Loosening passenger's seat bolt
  • When the seat of the model with door mirror interlocked seat position memory is removed, initialize the power seat and remote control control module. Ref. to SEATS>Power Seat System>ADJUSTMENT .
  • For model with door mirror interlocked seat position memory, be careful with the following items when disconnecting the ground terminal from the battery sensor.
    • When the seat or the door mirror is moved with the engine OFF, always disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor after waiting for 60 seconds. If the ground terminal is disconnected from the battery sensor without waiting for 60 seconds, the seat recalling position may be misaligned.
    • When the memory registration is performed with the ignition switch OFF, wait for 60 seconds, and then disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor. If the ground terminal is disconnected from the battery sensor without waiting for 60 seconds, the registration information may not be stored correctly.
  1. Remove the headrest assembly.
    1. While pushing the button on the lock bushing side, pull up the headrest.
    2. Push the button on the free bushing side at the position where the headrest is locked, and then pull up the headrest again to remove.

  2. Remove the slide rail assembly installing bolt.
    CAUTION:
    • To remove the cover bolt rear inside, press and hold the cover rear section (a) and pull it rearwards. Twisting sideways may damage the claws of the cover.
    • Install the front seat with low head bolts. Use a suitable tool to prevent bolt damage.
    1. Tilt the backrest assembly forward and move the front seat to the front most position.
    2. Remove the cover bolt rear, and remove the bolts.

      NOTE: The illustration shows the RH side.
    3. Move the front seat to the rearmost position, and remove the bolts.
      NOTE:
      • After the bolts are removed, move the seat to the middle position in order to make it easier to take out of the vehicle.
      • Raise the cushion seating face when the seat is disassembled, for example, to replace the seat surface. (Only with lifter)
      • When removing the power seat and remote control control module, move the front seat (driver's seat) to the following positions.
        • Slide: rearmost end
        • Reclining: most upright
        • Lifter: down most end
        • Tilt: down most end
  3. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to GROUND TERMINAL REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION .
  4. Disconnect the connector between passenger compartment floor under front seat - seat.
  5. Take out the front seat from the vehicle.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the body.
