Door Outer Handle: Removal: Rear

  1. Raise the glass assembly - rear door to the top position.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  3. Remove the trim panel - rear door. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>DOOR TRIM>REMOVAL>REAR DOOR .
  4. Remove the sealing cover - rear door. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>SEALING COVER>REMOVAL>REAR SEALING COVER .
  5. Remove the latch and actuator assembly - rear. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>DOOR LATCH & DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL>REAR .
  6. Remove the cover - handle rear outer.
    1. Loosen the TORX® bolt.

      Preparation tool: 

      TORX® T30

    2. Release the claws, and then remove the cover - handle rear outer.

  7. Remove the handle - rear door outer.
    CAUTION: Do not apply excessive force to remove the handle - rear door outer from the frame assembly - rear door.
    1. Remove the handle - rear door outer by pulling it toward yourself and to the rear as shown in the figure.

  8. Remove the spacer - door handle outer.
    1. Release the claws and hooks, and remove the spacer - door handle outer A and B.

  9. Remove the frame assembly - rear door outer.
    1. Loosen the TORX® bolt and remove the frame assembly - rear door outer as shown in the figure.
