Water Tank Pipe Cap
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION:
- Stop the engine.
- The engine coolant is pressurized when it is hot. Wait until engine coolant cools down before proceeding the work.
- If the engine coolant splashes, completely remove and clean it.
- Drain engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
- Remove the water tank pipe cap.
- Check that the water tank pipe cap has no deformation, cracks or other damages.
- Check the opening pressure of the water tank pipe cap.
- Attach the radiator cap tester to the water tank pipe cap.
- Increase pressure until the radiator cap tester gauge needle stops. The water tank pipe cap is functioning properly if it holds the service limit pressure for 5 - 6 seconds.
Replace the water tank pipe cap if it opens under pressure at or less than the service limit value.
CAUTION: Be sure to remove foreign matter and rust in advance. Otherwise, results of pressure test will be incorrect.Specification:
122 - 152 kPa (1.24 - 1.55 kg/cm2 , 18 - 22 psi)
Service limit:
112 kPa (1.14 kg/cm2 , 16 psi)
- Attach the radiator cap tester to the water tank pipe cap.
- After inspection, install the related parts in the reverse order of removal.
- Fill engine coolant.
