Differential Side Retainer Oil Seal: Replacement

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
NOTE:
Perform this procedure only when replacing the LH side.
Drain differential gear oil. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL>REPLACEMENT .
Remove the front drive shaft. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>FRONT DRIVE SHAFT>REMOVAL>CROSSTREK MODEL .
Remove the differential side retainer oil seal using a flat tip screwdriver wrapped with protection tape, etc.

Install the new differential side retainer oil seal using the ST.
NOTE:
- Apply differential oil to the lip section of the differential side retainer oil seal.
- Since the differential side retainer oil seal has an identification mark (R or L), be careful not to mix up the RH and LH when installing.
Preparation tool:

ST: DIFFERENTIAL SIDE OIL SEAL INSTALLER (18675AA000)

Install the front drive shaft. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>FRONT DRIVE SHAFT>INSTALLATION .
Fill differential gear oil. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL>REPLACEMENT .
Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
