CROSSTREK Model

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. (LH side) Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Remove the front wheels. Ref. to WHEEL AND TIRE SYSTEM>TIRE AND WHEEL>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the axle nut.
    CAUTION: Do not loosen the axle nut while the front axle is loaded. Doing so may damage the front hub unit bearing.
    1. Lift the crimped section of axle nut.
    2. Remove the axle nut using a socket wrench while depressing the brake pedal.

  4. Remove the crossmember support - rear.
    NOTE: Remove the crossmember support - rear only on the removal side if only one side of the front drive shaft is removed.

  5. Remove the front exhaust pipe. (LH side) Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the front ABS wheel speed sensor.

  7. Remove the brake hose bracket.

  8. Disconnect the front axle housing from the front arm assembly.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the boot of the ball joint.
    1. Remove the bolt from the front axle housing.
    2. Lower the front arm assembly, and remove the ball joint portion from the front axle housing.

  9. Remove the front drive shaft from the front axle housing.
    NOTE:

    Preparation tool: 

    ST1: AXLE SHAFT PULLER (926470000)

    ST2: AXLE SHAFT PULLER PLATE (28099PA110)

  10. Using a bar, remove the front drive shaft from transmission.
CAUTION: Be careful not to allow the bar to damage holder area.
