Heater Core: Removal

CAUTION: Before handling the airbag system components, refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. Using the refrigerant recovery system, discharge refrigerant. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>REFRIGERANT RECOVERY PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor. and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  3. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Refer to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
  4. Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>HEATER AND COOLING UNIT>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the cover - heater pipe.
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Remove connector clamp and harness, and remove the cover - heater pipe.

  6. Remove the clamp - heater pipe.
    1. Release the claws, and remove the clamp - heater pipe.

    NOTE: Do not remove the packing.
  7. Remove the heater core as shown in the figure.
