Heater And Cooling Unit: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction.
  • Seal the engaging parts of the disconnected hose, pipe and expansion valve - cooling with a plug or vinyl tape to prevent foreign matter from entering.
  1. Using the refrigerant recovery system. discharge refrigerant. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>REFRIGERANT RECOVERY PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor. and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  3. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Refer to COOLING (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
  4. Move the air intake boot. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE BOOT>REMOVAL .
    NOTE: With the PCV hose connected, remove the air intake boot from the air cleaner case (rear) and throttle body.
  5. Remove the expansion valve - cooling. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>EXPANSION VALVE>REMOVAL .
  6. Disconnect the hose heater outlet and the hose heater inlet.
    1. Loosen the clamp, and detach the hose heater outlet.
    2. Loosen the clamp, and detach the hose heater inlet.

      NOTE: Put alignment marks to hoses, clamps, etc.
  7. Remove the instrument panel assembly and the beam COMPL - steering. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the duct - rear heater front. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>HEATER DUCT>REMOVAL>FRONT .
  9. Remove the duct - foot. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>HEATER DUCT>REMOVAL>FOOT .
  10. Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly.
    1. Remove the hose - drain.
    2. Remove the bolt and remove the heater and cooling unit assembly.
