DTC P0ABF-00: Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance: Notes

Outline of diagnosis: 

Property malfunction of the battery current sensor is detected through the relationship between the HV system power consumption and battery output power

(1 trip detection logic)

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .

  1. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Battery ECU assembly - HV battery junction block) (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    CAUTION:
    • Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    • Never turn to READY ON with Service plug removed to prevent faults.
    1. Check that the Service plug is disconnected. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG .
    2. Disconnect HV battery junction block connector (HV54).
      NOTE: Before disconnecting the connector, check the connector for connecting condition and mating looseness.
    3. Disconnect Battery ECU assembly connector (HV42).
      NOTE: Before disconnecting the connector, check the connector for connecting condition and mating looseness.
    4. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Battery ECU assembly connector and HV battery junction block (BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR) connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV42) No. 30 - (HV54) No. 2:

      (HV42) No. 31 - (HV54) No. 3:

      (HV42) No. 7 - (HV54) No. 4:

      (HV42) No. 8 - (HV54) No. 1:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  2.

    No  : Repair or replace Wire harness between Battery ECU assembly connector and HV battery junction block (BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR) connector.

  2. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Battery ECU assembly - HV battery junction block) (SHORT TO GROUND)  .

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between HV battery junction block (BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR) connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (HV54) No. 2 - Chassis ground:

    (HV54) No. 3 - Chassis ground:

    (HV54) No. 4 - Chassis ground:

    (HV54) No. 1 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Repair or replace Wire harness between Battery ECU assembly connector and HV battery junction block (BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR) connector.

  3. CHECK HV battery junction block  .
    1. Replace HV battery junction block. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>RELAY AND FUSE .
    2. Restore the vehicle to its original state.
    3. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    4. Turn to READY ON.
    5. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, drive the vehicle in town about 10 minutes while referring to [Vehicle Speed], [Accelerator Position], [Hybrid Battery Current], [Motor Torque] and [Generator Torque] of the Freeze Frame Data.
    6. Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC P0ABF00 displayed?

    Yes  : Replace Battery ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>BATTERY CONTROL MODULE .

    No  : There was something wrong with HV battery junction block.

    Finish the diagnosis.
