BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR is installed on the positive cable side of HV battery junction block, and detects the current flowing in HV battery. The Battery ECU assembly receives at the IB0 terminal an inputs of voltage that varies from 0 to 5 V according to the amount of current from the BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR and receives at the IB1 terminal an input of voltage that varies from 0 to 5 V contrary to the amount of current. When the IB0 terminal voltage is less than 2.8 V, and, at the same time, the IB1 terminal voltage exceeds 2.2 V, it indicates that HV battery is discharging. When the IB0 terminal voltage exceeds 2.8 V and, at the same time, the IB1 terminal voltage is less than 2.2 V, it indicates that HV battery is being charged. Battery ECU assembly sends the input signals of the IB0 terminal and IB1 terminal to Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly, and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly judges charge/discharge amount of HV battery from the signals and calculates SOC of HV battery by adding up the current amount.
