DTC P0705-62: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit (PRNDL Input) Signal Compare Failure: Notes

Outline of diagnosis:
Shift sensor circuit malfunction (abnormal pattern)
A malfunction in the P, R, N, D or B circuit is detected based on the shift sensor input pattern.
(1 trip detection logic)
Trouble symptom:
Normal driving
(N position control used for the malfunctioning shift position)
Wiring diagram:
CVT control system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (CROSSTREK MODEL (HEV))>CVT CONTROL SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
- CHECK DATA MONITOR (INHIBITOR SWITCH)
.
- Turn to IG ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control]. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- Shift Position Sensor (PNB)
- Shift Position Sensor (PR)
- Shift Position Sensor (DB1)
- Shift Position Sensor (DB2)
- Shift Position Sensor (N)
- Shift Position Sensor (R)
- Shift Position Sensor (P)
- While depressing the brake pedal, move the shift lever slowly from P to B, and read the data when the shift is returned to P.NOTE: Be sure to move the shift lever slowly.

Is DTC P070562 displayed?
Yes : Go to 3.
No : Go to 2.
- CHECK NON-PERMANENT OCCURRENCE MALFUNCTIONS
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check malfunctions that do not occur frequency. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>INSPECTION>CHECK NON-PERMANENT OCCURRENCE MALFUNCTIONS .
Is the check result OK?
Yes : Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .
No : Repair or replace the faulty locations and parts.
- CHECK INHIBITOR SWITCH (VOLTAGE CHECK)
.
- Turn to IG ON.
- Using a tester, measure the voltage between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and chassis ground. (With the connector connected)

Is the voltage within the standard value above?
Yes : Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .
No : Go to 4.
- CHECK Wire harness (VOLTAGE CHECK)
.
- Turn the ignition to OFF.
- Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector (T7).
- Turn to IG ON.
- Using a tester, measure the voltage between inhibitor switch connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(T7) No. 7 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage 7.5 - 14 V?
Yes : Go to 5.
No : Go to 6.
- PERFORM UNIT INSPECTION OF INHIBITOR SWITCH
.
- Turn the ignition to OFF.
- Using a tester, measure the resistance of shift position sensor unit.

Is the resistance within the standard value above?
Yes : Repair or replace Wire harness between inhibitor switch and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors, or the connectors.
No : Replace the inhibitor switch. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>INHIBITOR SWITCH .
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - INHIBITOR SWITCH) (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Disconnect Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector (i369).
- Using a tester, measure the resistance between the Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and the inhibitor switch connector.

(i369) No. 33 - (T7) No. 7:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes : Go to 7.
No : Repair or replace Wire harness between inhibitor switch and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors, or the connectors.
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - INHIBITOR SWITCH) (SHORT TO GROUND OR LINE-TO-LINE SHORT)
.
Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals in inhibitor switch connector, and between inhibitor switch connector and chassis ground.

Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?
Yes : Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .
No : Repair or replace Wire harness between inhibitor switch and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors, or the connectors.
