DTC B1477: A/C Inverter Local Communication

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

DTC detecting condition: 

When the A/C inverter local communication is abnormal.

Trouble symptom: 

Compressor does not operate.

Wiring diagram: 

Air conditioning system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (CROSSTREK MODEL (HEV))>AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .

CAUTION:
  1. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC P058A01 or P162B87 displayed? (Current malfunction)

    Yes  : Go to  2.

    No  : Go to  6.

  2. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector (B9).
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC B1477 displayed? (Current malfunction)

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Replace the 12V engine restart battery sensor. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .

  3. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector (B9).
    3. Disconnect the connector (E175) of Electric compressor ASSEMBLY.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC P058A01 or P162B87 displayed? (Current malfunction)

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Replace Electric compressor ASSEMBLY. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>COMPRESSOR .

  4. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the connector (B605) of Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
    3. Disconnect the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector (B9).
    4. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector, and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and 12V engine restart battery sensor connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B605) No. 12 - (E175) No. 3:

      (B605) No. 12 - (B9) No. 2:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  5. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (B605) No. 12 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .

    No  : Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.

  6. CHECK IGB RELAY UNIT  .

    Check the IGB relay unit. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>RELAY AND FUSE .

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  7.

    No  : Replace the IGB relay. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>RELAY AND FUSE .

  7. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Disconnect the keyless access Control Module connector (i75).
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the IGB relay connector and keyless access Control Module connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B649) No. 9 - (i75) No. 15:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω

    Yes  : Go to  8.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  8. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between the IGB relay connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (B649) No. 9 - (i75) No. 15:

    Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  9.

    No  : Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.

  9. CHECK KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE  .
    1. Connect the keyless access Control Module connector (i75).
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Using a tester, measure the voltage between the keyless access Control Module connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (i75) No. 15 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 8.5 V or more?

    Yes  : Go to  10.

    No  : Replace the keyless access Control Module. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE .

  10. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Using a tester, measure the voltage between the IGB relay connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B649) No. 11 - Chassis ground:

    Is the voltage 11 - 14 V?

    Yes  : Go to  11.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  11. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between the IGB relay connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (B649) No. 7 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  12.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  12. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Install the IGB relay.
    2. Disconnect the connector (E175) of Electric compressor ASSEMBLY.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (E175) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 11 - 14 V?

    Yes  : Go to  13.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  13. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (E175) No. 2 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  14.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  14. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Disconnect the connector (B605) of Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B605) No. 12 - (E175) No. 3:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  15.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  15. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Disconnect the connector (HV104) of Electric compressor ASSEMBLY.
    2. Disconnect the connector (HV36) of Inverter with converter assembly.
    3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector and Inverter with converter assembly connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV104) No. 2 - (HV36) No. 1:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  16.

    No  : Go to  17.

  16. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector and Inverter with converter assembly connector.

    Connector & terminal 

    (HV104) No. 1 - (HV36) No. 2:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Replace Electric compressor ASSEMBLY. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>COMPRESSOR .

    No  : Replace the HV air conditioning wire. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>POWER CABLE .

  17. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (HV104) No. 2 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Replace the Electric compressor ASSEMBLY and HV air conditioning wire. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>COMPRESSOR . Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>POWER CABLE .

    No  : Replace the HV air conditioning wire. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>POWER CABLE .
