When The Whole EGR System Is Removed

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION: If the engine coolant is spilt over the engine or the exhaust pipe, completely wipe it off to avoid emission of smoke or causing a fire.
NOTE: EGR system consists of EGR control valve, EGR pipe, EGR cooler and EGR temperature sensor.
  1. Install the water hose.

  2. Using a new gasket, install the EGR cooler.

    Tightening torque: 

    T1: 19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

    T2: 24 N.m (2.4 kgf-m, 17.7 ft-lb)

  3. Connect the water hose (A) and the water hose (B).

  4. Install the clips.

  5. When the EGR temperature sensor is removed from the EGR cooler
    NOTE: When the EGR temperature sensor is removed from the EGR cooler, also perform the following steps.
    1. Install the EGR temperature sensor. Ref. to EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) (H4DO (HEV))>EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR>INSTALLATION .
  6. When the EGR temperature sensor is not removed from the EGR cooler
    NOTE: When the EGR temperature sensor is not removed from the EGR cooler, also perform the following steps.
    1. Connect the EGR temperature sensor connector.
  7. Using a new gasket, install the EGR control valve.

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  8. Connect the preheater hose (B) and preheater hose (C).
  9. Connect the connector (A).

  10. Temporarily tighten the EGR pipe by using a new O-ring.

  11. Tighten the bolt on the EGR control valve side.

    Tightening torque: 

    T1: 19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  12. Tighten the bolts on the intake manifold side in the numerical order shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    T2: 9 N.m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)

  13. Attach the bracket.

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  14. Install the electric compressor assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>COMPRESSOR>INSTALLATION .
  15. Install the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION .
  16. Connect the battery ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  17. Fill the engine coolant (engine side). Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT>ENGINE SIDE .
