Clutch Pedal: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION: Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  3. Remove the clip from the air intake boot, and loosen the clamp.

  4. Remove the air intake boot, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with the work.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to pull out the PCV hose.

  5. Drain the brake fluid. Ref. to CLUTCH SYSTEM>CLUTCH FLUID .
  6. Disconnect the vacuum pipe & hose assembly.

  7. Remove the clutch pipe.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to spill the brake fluid. Brake fluid spilled on the vehicle body will harm the paint surface; wash it off with water and wipe clean quickly if spilled.

  8. Disconnect the clutch pipe.

  9. Remove the two-way connector and the clutch connector bracket.

  10. Disconnect the tank hose from the clutch pipe.

  11. Remove the instrument panel lower cover. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the steering column. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>REMOVAL .
  13. Remove the duct - foot driver. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>HEATER DUCT>REMOVAL>FOOT>LH SIDE .
  14. Disconnect the connector from the clutch switch and clutch start switch.
  15. Disconnect the connector from stop light switch.
  16. Remove the snap pin and clevis pin connecting the operating rod and brake pedal.
  17. Remove the clutch pedal assembly.
    CAUTION: Place vinyl, etc. in order not to drop the brake fluid to the floor carpet.
