Transmission assembly consists of the planetary gear unit, motor and generator. The gear unit uses the planetary gear that divides the engine output into «mechanical power» and «electrical power» according to the driving requests when the vehicle is driving and charging and the planetary gear that decelerates the motor. During the acceleration, the motor increases the vehicle driving force to assist the engine output. Also, the motor functions as a regenerative brake during braking, and normally transforms the braking energy that is consumed as heat at braking into the electrical energy, then stores the electrical energy in HV battery. The generator supplies the power for HV battery charging and motor driving, and also controls the generation amount. Also, it is used as a starter motor to start the engine.
When Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly detects seizure of the engine unit or transaxle gear, failsafe control is performed. Also, when rotation of the engine or transaxle internal parts is disturbed due to foreign matter, Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly performs the failsafe control.
