CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to PLUG-IN BATTERY CHARGER (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .

  1. CHECK DATA MONITOR (Charging Current Duty from Charger/Time Cycle of Charging Current Duty from Charger)  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Plug-in Battery Charger]. Ref. to PLUG-IN BATTERY CHARGER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
      • Charging Current Duty from Charger
      • Time Cycle of Charging Current Duty from Charger
      Item name Item explanation Display range Standard
      Charging Current Duty from Charger Indicates the charging current command value. 0.00 - 100.00% 5 - 39%: Charging connector connected 0%: EVSE (charging equipment) system not connected, or power not available
      Time Cycle of Charging Current Duty from Charger Indicates the time for 1 CPLT cycle. 0 - 65535 μs 951 - 1049 μs: CPLT oscillating

    Is the Data Monitor value within the standard range?

    Yes  : Refer to Diagnostics with Phenomenon. Ref. to PLUG-IN BATTERY CHARGER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>LIST .

    No  : Go to  2.

  2. CHECK AC charger inlet cable (CHASSIS GROUND)  .
    NOTE: Remove the Electric vehicle charger cable assembly before performing this check.
    1. Open the Charging inlet door.
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV29) No. 5 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Go to  7.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTORS (Electric vehicle charger assembly - Charging inlet) (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Check that the Service plug is disconnected. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG .
    2. Disconnect Electric vehicle charger assembly connector (HV31).
    3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the Electric vehicle charger assembly connector and AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet).

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV31) No. 5 - (HV29) No. 3:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

  4. CHECK THE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (Electric vehicle charger assembly - Charging inlet) (SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND AND SHORT CIRCUIT BETWEEN LINES)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals in the AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet), and between the AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (HV29) No. 3 - (HV29) No. 1 - 5:

    (HV29) No. 3 - Chassis ground:

    (HV29) No. 5 - (HV29) No. 1 - 5:

    (HV29) No. 5 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

    No  : Replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

  5. CHECK THE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (Electric vehicle charger assembly - Charging inlet) (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Connect the Battery (12V) ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    2. Turn to IG ON.
    3. Using a tester, measure the voltage between the AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV29) No. 3 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage less than 1 V?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

    No  : Go to  8.

  6. CHECK THE AC charger inlet cable UNIT (CPLT VOLTAGE)  .
    1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the ground terminal of Battery (12V). Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    3. Check the AC charger inlet cable unit. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

    Is the AC charger inlet cable OK?

    Yes  : Replace Electric vehicle charger assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER .

    No  : Replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

  7. CHECK GROUNDING POINT CONNECTION (AC charger inlet cable)  .

    Check connection of AC charger inlet cable grounding point (GB11). Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

    Is the grounding point connected securely?

    Yes  : Replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

    No  : Connect it securely.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTORS (Electric vehicle charger assembly - AC charger inlet cable) (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the ground terminal of Battery (12V). Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    3. Disconnect AC charger inlet cable connector (HV27).
    4. Using a tester, measure the resistance between AC charger inlet cable connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV31) No. 5 - (R523) No. 14:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  9.

    No  : Repair or replace the harness between AC charger inlet cable connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

  9. CHECK THE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (Electric vehicle charger assembly - CHARGING INLET CABLE) (SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND AND SHORT CIRCUIT BETWEEN LINES)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.

    Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals in Electric vehicle charger assembly connector, and between Electric vehicle charger assembly connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (HV31) No. 5 - (HV31) No. 1 - 40:

    (HV31) No. 5 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  10.

    No  : Repair or replace the harness between AC charger inlet cable connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

  10. CHECK THE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (Electric vehicle charger assembly - CHARGING INLET CABLE) (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Connect the Battery (12V) ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    2. Turn to IG ON.
    3. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Electric vehicle charger assembly connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (HV31) No. 5 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage less than 1 V?

    Yes  : Replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .

    No  : Repair or replace the harness between AC charger inlet cable connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
