DTC P0D56-15: Charging Connector Proximity Detection Circuit Short To Auxiliary Battery Or Open: Notes

Outline of diagnosis:
PISW terminal voltage was 4.73 V or more continuously for the prescribed length of time.
(1 trip detection logic)
Trouble symptom:
Plug-in charging suspended
Wiring diagram:
Charging system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (CROSSTREK MODEL (HEV))>CHARGING SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
- CHECK Electric vehicle charger cable assembly (SHORT CIRCUIT CHECK)
.
Check the Electric vehicle charger cable assembly unit. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE CABLE>INSPECTION .
Is the Electric vehicle charger cable assembly OK?
Yes : Go to 2.
No : Replace Electric vehicle charger cable assembly.
- CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AC charger inlet cable CONNECTOR)
.
- Disconnect the Electric vehicle charger cable assembly from the outlet.
- Check the connecting condition of connector (HV27) in AC charger inlet cable and check the relevant terminals for contact pressure, deformation and intrusion of water or foreign matters. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .
Is there looseness at the connector connection, or any poor contact, deformation or intrusion of water or foreign matters at the relevant terminals?
Yes : Connect the connector securely. Or repair the poor contact of connector.
No : Go to 3.
- CHECK GROUNDING POINT CONNECTION (AC charger inlet cable)
.
Check connection of AC charger inlet cable grounding point (GB11). Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .
Is the grounding point connected securely?
Yes : Go to 4.
No : Connect the grounding point securely.
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Charging inlet - Electric vehicle charger assembly) (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY)
.CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
- Check that the Service plug is disconnected. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG .
- Disconnect Electric vehicle charger assembly connector (HV31).
- Connect the Battery (12V) ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Turn to IG ON.
- Using a tester, measure the voltage between AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) and chassis ground, and between AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) terminals.
Connector & terminal
(HV29) No. 4 (+) - (HV29) No. 5 (-):
(HV29) No. 4 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage less than 1 V?
Yes : Go to 5.
No : Go to 8.
- CHECK AC charger inlet cable
.
- Turn the ignition to OFF.
- Disconnect the ground terminal of Battery (12V). Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Disconnect AC charger inlet cable connector (HV27).
- Using the tester, measure the resistance between the AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) terminals.
Connector & terminal
(HV31) No. 3 - (HV29) No. 5:
Is the resistance 2.3 - 3.0 kΩ?
Yes : Go to 6.
No : Repair or replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .
- CHECK AC charger inlet cable
.
Using a tester, measure the voltage between AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) and chassis ground, and between AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) terminals.
Connector & terminal
(HV29) No. 3 - (HV27) No. 11:
(HV29) No. 5 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes : Go to 7.
No : Repair or replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (AC charger inlet cable - Electric vehicle charger assembly) (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
Using a tester, measure the resistance between AC charger inlet cable connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
Connector & terminal
(HV31) No. 3 - (R523) No. 11:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes : Replace Electric vehicle charger assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER .
No : Repair or replace the harness or connector.
- CHECK AC charger inlet cable (SHORT CIRCUIT CHECK)
.
- Turn the ignition to OFF.
- Disconnect the ground terminal of Battery (12V). Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Connect the connector (HV31) of Electric vehicle charger assembly.
- Disconnect AC charger inlet cable connector (HV27).
- Connect the Battery (12V) ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Turn to IG ON.
- Using a tester, measure the voltage between AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) and chassis ground, and between AC charger inlet cable (Charging inlet) terminals.
Connector & terminal
(HV29) No. 4 (+) - (HV29) No. 5 (-):
(HV29) No. 4 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage less than 1 V?
Yes : Repair or replace the Wire harness or the connector.
No : Repair or replace AC charger inlet cable. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>CHARGE INLET .
