Extension Case Oil Seal: Replacement

CAUTION:
Immediately after the vehicle has been running or after idling for a long time, the CVTF will be hot. Be careful not to burn yourself.
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the center exhaust cover.
- Clean the transmission exterior.
- Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>PROPELLER SHAFT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the oil seal using a flat tip screwdriver wrapped with protection tape.
- Using the ST, install the oil seal.NOTE:
- Use a new oil seal.
- Apply CVTF to the oil seal lip and press-fitting surface.
Preparation tool:
ST: INSTALLER (498057300)
- Install the propeller shaft. Refer to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>PROPELLER SHAFT>INSTALLATION .
- Install the center exhaust cover.
Tightening torque:
18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)
- Install the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION .
- Adjust the CVTF level and check there is no leakage. Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 IMPREZA)>CVTF>ADJUSTMENT .
