Propeller Shaft: Installation
- Before installation, check the following items, and replace the propeller shaft as necessary.
- Dents or cracks on the tube surface
- Splines for deformation or abnormal wear
- Unsmooth joint operation or abnormal noise
- Bearing for looseness, unsmooth operation or noise.
- Oil seals for abnormal wear or damage
- Damaged bearing.
- Apply CVTF or gear oil to the oil seal lip and the propeller shaft. Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS .
- Insert the sleeve yoke into the transmission and attach center bearing to body.
Tightening torque:
52 N.m (5.3 kgf-m, 38.4 ft-lb)
- Align the alignment marks (A), and connect the flange yoke and rear differential.
- Install the bolts and nuts.
Tightening torque:
31 N.m (3.2 kgf-m, 22.9 ft-lb)
- Check the propeller shaft with the propeller shaft installed to the vehicle. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>PROPELLER SHAFT>INSPECTION .
- Install the center exhaust cover.
Tightening torque:
18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)
- Install the rear exhaust pipe and muffler. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>REAR EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION . Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>MUFFLER>INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle.
