Passenger's Seat

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • The load sensor of the occupant detection system is fixed to the cushion frame assembly. Never remove the load sensor from the cushion frame assembly.
  • The cushion pad, cushion cover, occupant detection control module and seat harness can be replaced as a single unit. When the cushion frame assembly is replaced, the occupant detection control module, seat harness and load sensor are assembled. When replacing the cushion frame assembly, do not touch the load sensor to avoid electrical damage.
  • If the cover - front cushion and the cover COMPL - front backrest are removed, make sure to replace the hang wire with a new part.
  • When removing or replacing the seat, perform "Occupant Detection System Inspection" after installing the seat to check if the occupant detection system operates normally. Ref. to PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION>PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) PROCEDURE>SEAT .
  • Before assembling, make sure how the harnesses such as the side airbag harness and the seat belt inner - front harness are routed in order to avoid misarranging. Assembling with harnesses improperly routed may cause the harness to get caught and short out.
  • If the seat heater unit is removed, replace the seat cushion pad with a new part.
  • If the seat heater unit is reused, remove the polyurethane section and double-sided tape from the reverse side completely. Be sure to use new double-sided tape.
  1. Prior to starting work, check the following precautions. Ref. to SEATS>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  2. Remove the front seat (passenger's side) from vehicle. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT>REMOVAL .
    NOTE: For the harness and control module of the occupant detection system, these components can be removed without disassembly. If only the harness or control module is removed, go to step  7.
  3. For the following operation, refer to the disassembly procedures for the driver's seat. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT>DISASSEMBLY>MANUAL SEAT .
    • Separating the backrest assembly and the seat cushion assembly
    • Disassembling the backrest assembly
  4. Remove the pad assembly - front seat cushion and the cover - front cushion.
    1. Remove the plastic hook on the front side, and remove the J-fastener.
    2. Detach the plastic hooks on the right, left and rear.
    3. Remove the pad assembly - front seat cushion and the cover - front cushion from the seat cushion assembly.

  5. Remove the screws and clips to remove the covers.
    1. Remove the cover - frame front seat cushion.
    2. Remove the cover - slide rail.

  6. Remove the lever - slide rail.
    1. Move the slide rail to the front-most position.

    2. Use a thin flat tip screwdriver to press-in the leaf spring from behind the slide rail.
    3. Pull out the lever - slide rail.

  7. Remove the cover - front cushion.
    CAUTION:
    • If the seat heater unit is removed, replace the pad assembly with a new part.
    • If the seat heater unit is reused, remove the polyurethane section and double-sided tape from the reverse side completely. Be sure to use new double-sided tape.

    Preparation items: 

    Double-sided tape: NITTO DENKO 501L or equivalent

    1. Remove the hog ring.

    2. Pull out the pad assembly - front seat cushion from the cover - front cushion.
    3. Remove the seat heater unit from the pad assembly as necessary.
  8. Remove the seat harness.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove the load sensor.
    • Do not touch the load sensor. Otherwise, the load sensor may be damaged due to possible static electricity.

  9. Remove the control module - occupant detection system.
    CAUTION: If the control module - occupant detection system is removed from the bracket, do not reuse it. Once removed from the bracket, the engaging force of the claw is reduced, and it may come off from the bracket due to vibration while driving.
    1. Release the claws, and remove it from the bracket.
