Oil Pump ASSY (FA20): Removal
- Disconnection of the battery ground terminal (Refer to WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES )
- Draining of coolant (SUBARU Super Coolant) (Refer to COOLANT (FA20) )
- Generator ASSY removal (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of injector driver (Refer to INJECTOR DRIVER (FA20) )
- Removal of radiator reservoir tank ASSY (Refer to REMOVAL , Step 7)
- Water filler SUB-ASSY removal (Refer to REMOVAL , Step 13)
- Removal of exhaust manifold (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Disconnection of radiator outlet hose (Refer to REMOVAL , Step 29)
- Engine oil draining
- Remove the oil filler cap.
- Remove the oil pan drain plug and gasket.
- After draining the oil, install the oil pan drain plug with a new gasket.
Standard value:T=41.7N.m {425kgf.cm} {30.8ft.lbf}
- Water pump pulley removal (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Crankshaft pulley removal (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of intake manifold protector (bank 1 side) (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Engine wiring disconnection
- Remove the two bolts and disconnect the two wiring harness clamp brackets and wiring harness.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the wiring harness clamp bracket and wiring harness.
- Disconnect the connector for camshaft position sensor.
- Disconnect the connector of cam position sensor and two connectors of cam timing oil control valve ASSY.
- Disconnect the connector of cam position sensor and connectors of cam timing oil control valve ASSY.
- Disconnect the connector of engine oil temperature sensor and connector of engine oil pressure switch ASSY.
- Disconnect the clamp.
- Disconnect the connector of cam position sensor and connectors of cam timing oil control valve ASSY.
- Remove the two bolts and disconnect the two wiring harness clamp brackets and wiring harness.
- Oil level gauge guide removal
- Idler pulley SUB-ASSY NO. 2 removal
- Remove the bolt and remove the idler pulley SUB-ASSY NO. 2 and idler pulley cover.
- V-ribbed belt tensioner ASSY removalNOTE: V-ribbed belt tensioner ASSY can be removed together with the alternator bracket.
- Removal of the alternator bracket.
- Idler pulley SUB-ASSY NO. 1 removal
- Chain cover oil seal removal (Refer to REMOVAL )
- Chain cover removal
- Remove the 32 bolts.
- Push out the portions shown in the figure using a bar or similar wrapped with protective tape to remove the chain cover.CAUTION:
- Do not damage the chain cover, cylinder head, camshaft timing gear and cylinder block.
- The chain cover may contact the protrusion "a" of the sensor plate of the cam sprocket and cause damage. Therefore, for removal, move the chain cover horizontally to the position where the cam sprocket is not contacted, and then carefully remove the chain cover.
- Remove the four O-rings.
- Remove the 32 bolts.
