Oil Pan Upper

- Remove the engine from the vehicle. Refer to MECHANICAL (EXCEPT FOR STI)>ENGINE ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
- Remove the water pump. Refer to COOLING (EXCEPT FOR STI)>WATER PUMP>REMOVAL ,
- Remove the thermostat cover. Refer to COOLING (EXCEPT FOR STI)>THERMOSTAT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the water pipe assembly. Refer to COOLING (EXCEPT FOR STI)>WATER PIPE ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
- Remove the chain cover. Refer to MECHANICAL (EXCEPT FOR STI)>CHAIN COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the oil pan. Refer to LUBRICATION (EXCEPT FOR STI)>OIL PAN>REMOVAL>OIL PAN .
- Remove the oil level switch. Refer to LUBRICATION (EXCEPT FOR STI)>OIL LEVEL SWITCH>REMOVAL .
- Remove the bolts which secure oil pan upper to cylinder block, and remove the oil pan upper.NOTE: Remove the bolt (a) shown in the figure using TORX® bit T45.
- Remove the baffle plate from the oil pan upper.
- Remove the oil strainer from the oil pan upper.
- Remove stud bolts from the oil pan upper.
- Remove the clutch housing cover from the oil pan upper. (MT model)
- Remove the O-ring from the cylinder block.
- Remove the liquid gasket from oil pan upper and cylinder block.
