EGR Cooler: Removal

- Fully open the front hood. Ref. to
FRONT HOOD DAMPER STAYNOTE: Repair Contents.
- Remove the V-belt covers.
- Remove the clip (A), and loosen the clamps (B) and (C) securing the air intake boot.
- Remove the air intake boot from the air cleaner case (rear) and throttle body, and move it to the left side wheel apron.
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Remove the center exhaust pipe. Ref. to REMOVAL , Center Exhaust Pipe.
- Drain engine coolant. Ref. to DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT , REPLACEMENT, Engine Coolant.
- Disconnect the engine coolant hose from the water pipe RH.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the engine coolant hose (A) and engine coolant hose (B) from the EGR cooler. (CVT model)
- Disconnect the engine coolant hose from the EGR cooler. (MT model)
- Remove the bolts securing the EGR cooler to the EGR control valve and the cylinder head RH.
- Using the ST1, install the ST2 to the engine unit.

Tightening torque:
43 N.m (4.4 kgf-m, 31.7 ft-lb)
- Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.
- Remove the transmission mounting bracket RH.
- Remove the nuts from transmission mounting bracket LH.
- Remove the front cushion rubber from the front mounting bracket and engine mounting bracket.
- Temporarily attach ST by using two bolts.

- Lift up the engine unit high enough to install the bolt and nut.CAUTION: Do not lift up higher than enough level to install the ST to avoid damage to the hoses and pipes inside the engine room.NOTE: If it is difficult to pull out the stud bolt from transmission mounting bracket, slightly shake the engine unit while lifting up.
- Tighten the mounting bolts on the engine side.
Tightening torque:
25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)
- Remove the lifting device and wire ropes.
- Remove the engine rear hanger.
- Remove the nuts securing the EGR cooler to the cylinder head RH, and remove the EGR cooler.
- Remove the gasket (A) from the stud bolt.
- Remove the engine coolant hose from EGR cooler.
