Power Will Not Turn On (Accessory Turns On, But Ignition Does Not Turn On)

CAUTION:
  • When the keyless access Control Module is replaced with a new unit, and the battery ground terminal is connected, it will become ignition ON. Also, if the battery is disconnected, it will resume to a condition with the battery cut off.
  • When the keyless access Control Module is replaced, registration of the immobilizer is required. For the relevant procedures, refer to the "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER" provided as a separate volume.

Wiring diagram: 

NOTE: For the coupling connector, refer to "WIRING SYSTEM".

Step Check Yes No
1 CHECK FUSE. 
Check the fuse. Ref. to INSPECTION , Relay and Fuse.
Is the check result OK? Go to step Replace the fuse.
2 CHECK CONNECTOR. 
Check the engagement of each connector and terminal for any deformation or looseness.
Is the check result OK? Go to step Repair the connector, or replace harness.
3 CHECK WIRING HARNESS (OPEN). 
  1. Disconnect the keyless access Control Module connector.
  2. Using a tester, measure the voltage between the keyless access Control Module connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (i75) No. 24 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 

    (i241) No. 40 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 

Is the voltage between 8 V and 16 V? Go to step Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
4 CHECK WIRING HARNESS (OPEN). 
Using a tester, check continuity between the keyless access Control Module connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal 
(i241) No. 21 - Chassis ground: 
(i75) No. 1 - Chassis ground: 
Is there continuity? Go to step Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
5 CHECK IG RELAY 1 AND 2 (PUSH BUTTON START). 
Check IG relay 1 (push button start) and IG relay 2 (push button start). Ref. to RELAY AND FUSE
Is the check result OK? Go to step Replace the relay.
6 CHECK WIRING HARNESS (OPEN). 
  1. Disconnect the keyless access Control Module connector and F/B connector.
  2. Using a tester, check continuity between keyless access Control Module connector and F/B connector.

    Connector & terminal 

    (i75) No. 11 - (i137) No. 12: 

    (i75) No. 12 - (i265) No. 4: 

Is there continuity? Go to step Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
7 CHECK WIRING HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT). 
Using a tester, check continuity between the keyless access Control Module connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal 
(i75) No. 11 - Chassis ground: 
(i75) No. 12 - Chassis ground: 
Is there continuity? Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness. Go to step
8 CHECK KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE. 
  1. Connect the keyless access Control Module connector.
  2. Using a tester, measure the voltage between the keyless access Control Module connector and chassis ground when the ignition is turned from OFF to ON.

    Connector & terminal 

    (i75) No. 11 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 

    (i75) No. 12 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 

Did the voltage change from 1 V or less → +B-2 V or more? The circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
Replace the keyless access Control Module. Ref. to KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE
