Inspection steps

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: Read the freeze frame data using the SSM3. A part of the engine running conditions under which the engine trouble occurred is recorded in the freeze frame data, which is useful for troubleshooting.
  1. Read the diagnostic code
    1. Follow the SSM3 on-screen instructions to check the diagnostic codes. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  )

      Result

      Result Go to
      Only P0711 is output. A
      P0711 and other diagnostic codes are output. B

      B: Related diagnostic code chart

      A: Go to next step

  2. Freeze frame data check
    1. Read the freeze frame data using the SSM3.
    2. Check difference between engine coolant temperature and ATF temperature.

      Result

      Result Go to
      ATF temp. - Engine coolant temp. is 42°C or less A
      ATF temp. - Engine coolant temp. is 42°C or more B

      B: Go to Step  4.

      A: Go to next step

  3. Transmission fluid level check
    1. Check the amount of automatic transmission fluid.

      Criteria: The amount of automatic transmission fluid is correct.

      NG: Fluid replenishment

      OK: Go to next step

  4. Reading of SSM3 data (ATF oil temperature)
    1. Disconnect the connector L4 of the transmission wire.
    2. Use SSM3 to display the [Current Data Display & Save] screen according to the screen display and check the ATF oil temperature.

      Result

      Result Go to
      ATF temperature is other than -40°C. A
      ATF temperature is -40°C. B
    3. Connect the connector L4 of the transmission wire.

      B: Repair or replacement of transmission wire (refer to REMOVAL )

      A: Go to next step

  5. Replacement of transmission control computer ASSY
    1. Replace the transmission control computer ASSY. (Refer to TRANSMISSION CONTROL COMPUTER ASSY )

      AT unit correction (refer to INSPECTION FOR PROBLEMS THAT DO NOT NORMALLY OCCUR  )
