Differential Side Retainer Oil Seal: Replacement

Lift-up the vehicle.
Drain the differential gear oil from the differential oil drain plug.

Replace the gasket with a new part and tighten the differential oil drain plug.
Tightening torque:

44 N.m (4.5 kgf-m, 33 ft-lb) (Aluminum gasket)

70 N.m (7.1 kgf-m, 51 ft-lb) (Copper gasket)

Remove the front and center exhaust pipes. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Front Exhaust Pipe. >
Separate the front drive shaft from the transmission. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Front Drive Shaft. >
Remove the differential side retainer oil seal.
NOTE:
- Be sure to replace the differential side retainer oil seal with a new part after the procedure for removing the front drive shaft from transmission.
- When removing the part by prying with a flat tip screwdriver, be careful not to scratch the differential side retainer. ST 398527700 PULLER ASSY may be used for this operation procedure.
Using the ST, install the differential side retainer oil seal by lightly tapping with a plastic hammer.

NOTE: Apply oil to the oil seal lips.

Install the front drive shaft. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Drive Shaft. >

Install the front and center exhaust pipe. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Exhaust Pipe. >
Lower the vehicle.
Pour gear oil through the gauge hole. < Ref. to REPLACEMENT , Transmission Gear Oil. >
